Four reasons why Liverpool still can win the Premier League this season
By CJ Errickson
After Liverpool FC’s 1-0 defeat yesterday against Leicester City, some are beginning to question whether or not the Reds have what it takes to hoist the English Premier League title this season. This month has been particularly tough on the club, and it is a valid question. After a previous outing where they had a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur, doubt slowly crept into the minds of the LFC faithful of the team’s title aspirations. Tuesday’s loss to the Foxes only compounded the issue.
Manchester City’s table lead grows, and Chelsea FC is the Lions at Liverpool’s door.
Manchester City currently sits atop the EPL with 47 points and are winners of their last five contests. They are a machine showing no signs of slowing down, and more than likely will make a key signing in next month’s transfer window to put their foot down even more. Liverpool, as of today, is only 6 points back, but now they are tied for second place with Chelsea FC. Chelsea has had some mixed results as of late, as they have won two matches and drew in two contests. Like LFC, they also have a loss in their last five games. However, the two will face off against one another on January 2nd of the new year. This contest will indeed have a bearing on who will have the best chance to catch City for the remainder of the season. In the faint distance in fourth place is Arsenal, who are only 6 points behind the clubs mentioned above. Should Chelsea and Liverpool continue to provide mixed results, they can quickly enter the picture down the stretch if individuals continue to not capitalize on opportunities. Specifically, a particular Red’s missed opportunities have caught the eyes of many.
