The rumour mill has started, the January transfer window is open and Liverpool fans will be surprised to see the name they have been linked with today.
England under-21 and Norwich outcast Todd Cantwell has been touted to join Jurgen Klopp’s team during the January transfer window.
Despite a successful Premier League spell with Norwich in the 2019-2020 season, the youngster has failed to capture the heart of head boss Daniel Farke so far in this campaign.

The England under-21 represents an intriguing deal for the Reds, something that would almost definitely be cut-price, yet suits Liverpool’s transfer policy of buying young, unproven talents and turning them into world-beaters.
Cantwell, however, hasn’t shown his true potential for Norwich this season, appearing eight times and providing 0 goals and 0 assists; disappointing, yet if his last showing in the Premier League is anything to go by, Liverpool could have a bargain on their hands.
So where would Cantwell fit into Jurgen Klopp’s heavy metal mentality? The answer is that the 23-year-old can be versatile. With Sadio Mane’s absence due to the AFCON’s Klopp could gradually get the Norwich midfielder involved in the Liverpool starting XI.
Cantwell primarily features in an attacking position on the wing but has also tread his boots in the traditional number 8 role for Norwich in the past.
Having only acquired the services of RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate in the summer transfer window, there is definitely room for Liverpool to meddle in the Winter transfer market and Cantwell could prove to be one of those under the radar shrewd signings that Jurgen Klopp’s team have become renowned for in recent years.
Signings are needed for Liverpool to keep the pace with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table and whilst Cantwell’s name may not bring instant excitement, long term, it could prove to be extremely savvy.
