Liverpool FC return to action vs. Shrewsbury Town in FA Cup

After a week full of transfer rumors and more COVID-19 additions, Liverpool FC will return to action on the pitch against Shrewsbury Town FC in the FA Cup on Sunday. England’s oldest knockout tournament in football will present the Reds with an opportunity to redeem themselves after last year’s early exit.

The FA Cup tournament has not been kind to Liverpool in recent years, and this year may be no different.

It’s somewhat hard to believe that the Reds have not made it past Round Five of the FA Cup since the 2016-2017 season. Last year, LFC was eliminated by Manchester United in the fourth round. However, it is uncertain what exactly the team’s lineup will be against Shrewsbury Town this time around. They will still be without manager Jurgen Klopp and their assistant manager.

So, as of now, Peter Krawietz will assume duties in Sunday’s action. However, despite Shrewsbury being in EFL League One, they still pose a potential threat.

Shrewsbury Town is an opponent that cannot be taken lightly.

Despite the differences in leagues, Shrewsbury Town can win football matches. They have won three out of their last four contests in all competitions. Unfortunately better than what the Reds can say at the moment. In addition, they do have one striker who could pose problems for a shaky Liverpool midfield and backline.

Striker Daniel Udoh has scored nine goals for the Blues this season. However, in the team’s most recent 1-0 win over Sheffield United, he did suffer an injury. As a result, his status is questionable before the team’s clash at Anfield. However, if he plays – he is one player that could give the Reds problems.
