Liverpool could see a few of the fringe players leave for more regular football. Squad depth is something that we lack as compared to title rivals such as Manchester City and Chelsea. However, that does not change the fact that we could end up a little lighter with two or three players leaving either on loan or on permanent transfers this transfer window.
There are a few fringe players that are expected to leave Liverpool. However, all these are rumours and speculations. No player has been officially listed for transfer by Klopp. Here are two players we might see leave this month during the transfer window.
Nathaniel Phillips
Position: Defender
Natt Phillips is arguably the reason Liverpool are in the Champions League this season. He was the knight in shining armour last season. He stepped up when needed the most. Unfortunately, he has remained Klopp’s fifth choice centre back this season as well.
With the arrival of Ibrahima Konate, his chances of starting have further dwindled. He has featured in only three games this season. Two of those three were in dead rubber matches in the Champions League while the third was against Preston in the Carabao Cup.
There are rumours that a few Premier League teams are interested in him. Liverpool value him at anything between £10 and £15 million and will be alright letting him go if a bid fits that criteria.
Lloris Karius
Position: Goalkeeper
Liverpool goalkeeper Karius seems to be finally on his way out the door. There are rumours of a few German clubs in the lower tiers interested in acquiring his services. He has had a dreadful career at Liverpool with a few errors costing Liverpool possible trophies.
A move away from Liverpool will give hi a chance to put this nightmare behind him and start afresh. We only wish him the very best of luck.
More than players coming in or leaving us, the one thing that most Liverpool fans are waiting for is the news of Mohamed Salah signing his extension. The news of this was rumoured to come out during the January window to camouflage the fact that Liverpool are expecting to do no business in January.
