Liverpool have thrown their hat into the race to sign PSG’s 17-year-old midfielder Ismaël Gharbi.

The youngster’s contract expires this summer and a number of clubs have shown interest in stealing his signature from French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

According to GetFootballNewsFrance, Chelsea approached the starlet last week and outlined their plan for him to get involved in Thomas Tuchel’s first-team setup, however, Liverpool have now offered a similar deal.

Gharbi is said to be desperate for first-team action and due to Paris Saint-Germain’s endless amount of transfer buying power it is looking unlikely he’ll be able to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s team this season or next.

Gharbi is the kind of talent Liverpool will be looking to add to their arsenal, admired on the French football scene, he’s still extremely young, yet has the ability to explode at Anfield under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool could also offer the raw talent more game time than he is getting at PSG; you only have to look at the trust shown in the likes of Harvey Elliott, Tyler Morton, and Kaide Gordon during this campaign to see that Jurgen Klopp is willing to play youngsters if they are good enough.

Nevertheless, despite the rose-tinted windows of an Anfield emergence, Gharbi reportedly still has his heart set on making things work out The Parc des Princes and will decide in the coming months whether or not a contract extension is the next step he wants to take in his budding career.

The picture will become clearer regarding Ghabri’s future in the coming weeks, but the chance of getting a product of PSG’s youth system on the free in summer is certainly daylight robbery.
