According to recent reports, Liverpool are interested in signing Athletic Bilbao’s winger, whose namesake is incidentally at Anfield.

The player in question is Nico Williams, from Athletic Bilbao.

Nico Williams is a pacy and tricky dribbler who plays primarily on the right-wing but is capable of playing on the left side too.

According to the report from Fichajes, Liverpool are not the only premier league team that are interested in the winger. Even Manchester United and Manchester City are keeping a close watch on the 19-year-old.

The reports also suggest that Liverpool are ‘crazy’ about the winger, who is one of the biggest talents set to break out of Spain this season.

The Spain U21 international is the younger brother of Iñaki Williams, a player who was incidentally linked heavily with Liverpool at the start of his career. Now 27, Williams never moved of the La Liga club.

William has been a regular off the bench this season for Bilbao, with almost all of his 22 appearances in all competitions coming off the bench.

His namesake, Neco Willaims, on the other hand, is linked with a move away from the club. He is one of the players who want to move on in search of more regular game time.

There is no guarantee, however, about Neco Williams leaving Anfield. There was a price tag of 10 million pounds on his head, so a move out of the club cannot be ruled out completely.

If Neco does leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window, Jurgen Klopp, if the reports here are correct, would not be without a Nico Williams for long.

The player is rumoured to cost around £7m. Other wingers Liverpool have been linked with include Raphinha, Moussa Diaby, Jarrod Bowen, Luiz Diaz, and Cody Gakpo.

Do you think Nico Willams will be a good signing for Liverpool? Do you believe he can provide decent cover for Salah and Mane?
