Takumi Minamino – 2020 (RB Salzburg)

Minamino was brought to Merseyside by Klopp in 2020 for £7.3 million from RB Salzburg. Since then, Liverpool fans have been treated to glimpses of brilliant moments and goals, but overall the Japanese winger has struggled to find a steady spot in the squad.

Minamino has scored 10 goals in 49 appearances, mostly coming into games as a late substitution. However, some of his goals have been absolutely clutch, drawing him a level of admiration from the Liverpool fans.

With the recent signing of Luiz Diaz and continuing talks of a summer signing of Fabio Carvalho, who plays winger or attacking midfield, Minamino’s opportunities in red may dwindle as he continues to fall further on the team’s depth chart.

Ben Davies – 2021 (Preston)

Davies was signed to Liverpool from Preston when Klopp was faced with an injury-ravaged defense that included losing Van Dijk for the remainder of the season.

Instead, midfielders such as Jordan Henderson and Fabinho were shifted back to fill the gaps until the regular defense returned, and Davies has never stepped onto the pitch for the Reds. The club sent him on loan to Sheffield United in the summer of 2021 and he is due to return from the loan in summer 2022.

Luiz Diaz – 2022 (FC Porto)

The Reds officially announced the signing of 25-year-old Columbian Luis Diaz to a “long-term contract” –  reported to be until 2027 by BBC – on January 30. The deal is reported to be £37.5m upfront, with an additional £12.7m in potential add-ons, according to Danny Gallagher of the Daily Express.

Diaz has spent two and half successful seasons at FC Porto playing in Portugal’s Primeira Liga, scoring 41 goals in 125 appearances and leading his squad in goals this season with 14. Diaz recently began drawing strong interest from Premier League clubs including Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United before ultimately signing with the Reds.

With his impressive form this season thus far, registering 14 of his goals in 18 league starts for Porto, the expectation level is high for Diaz. He is anticipated to arrive on Merseyside once he is finished international duty with Colombia, who have a World Cup qualifier against Argentina in Cordoba on Tuesday evening.
