According to recent reports, Liverpool are set to ruin Daniel Levy’s transfer plans again as they look to add 16-goal forward to their attacking firepower.

The player in question is the forward leading Canada’s football revolution, Jonathan David.

Earlier this week, Canada beat their noisy neighbours the United States to go four points on top in the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying group and are now very close to booking their spot in the Qatar World cup.

David, for a long time, has heavily been linked with Liverpool.

While the Reds have already signed Luis Diaz, they are still looking to fortify their attack for the future. Mo Salah is entangled in contract negotiations, while Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are not only reaching 30 but are also like Mo salah entangled in contract negotiations.

David is not the only player they are linked to. Recent reports have also linked Liverpool to Arsenal star, Bukayo Saka.

Jonathan David is an excellent player. He has scored 16 goals in 30 games for Lille this season. Not only is he a very clinical forward scoring 53% of the shots he takes on target, but he is also an excellent pressure off the ball.

The Canadian averages 19.93 pressures per 90, which is more than 91% of forwards in Europe, 9.69 of which come in the attacking third. This makes him a perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s system.

His positioning is also brilliant, as he gets caught offside only 0.16 times per 90. (stats taken from Fbref)

Liverpool were considering Jonathan David a couple of seasons back before they snapped up Diogo Jota from Wolves, however, a lot has changed in the last 2 years. David is one of the most exciting prospects in France right now and there’s a lot of competition to sign him.

If rumours are to be believed, Daniel Levy is interested in bringing David to Tottenham. However, if Liverpool are interested in David, then it can become a Luis Diaz 2.0 situation for Levy.

Do you think David will be a good signing for Liverpool.
