According to Christ Burton of Goal.com, Liverpool star is open to a La Liga switch in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The star in question is Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, who has just won the African Cup of Nations with Senegal.
The clubs interested in Mane are Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona.
According to the report, “Talk of interest from afar being shown in Mane is nothing new, with Real Madrid and Barcelona having been sniffing around for some time.”
Mane has entered the last 18 months of his Liverpool contract and is yet to confirm on an extension, just like his teammates Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.
According to the report, no formal negotiations between Mane and the Reds have started as of yet, as most of the attention is on renewing Mo Salah’s contract.
It also suggests that Mane would look like a salary hike in his new Liverpool contract, but has not shown any signs of unhappiness at his current contract.
With his recent performances going down, there’s a chance that Liverpool view Mane as someone whose prime is over and might look to ship him soon.
Hence if Liverpool doesn’t tie Mane up soon enough, he could leave England for Spain. It has been the 29-year-old’s childhood dream to play in La Liga and it could soon become a reality.
That being said, the club has not received a formal offer for the Senegalese and he still remains a big part of Liverpool’s plans, despite the signing of Luis Diaz.
Luis Diaz is a typical FSG signing. He is set to be Mane’s replacement and getting the replacement before the older player leaves is a typical move by FSG.
Do you believe Sadio Mane is still an important part of the Reds’ setup or do you think it is time he moves on from the club?
