Forwards

Mohammed Salah – 5

Salah struggled to make much space for himself on Sunday and looked relatively frustrated by it throughout. He had a brilliant opportunity to play Jota into the box late in the second half but didn’t put enough on it, allowing Pieters to ruin a perfect scoring opportunity.

Roberto Firmino – 5

Firmino was nearly invisible in the first half, only registering 24 inconsequential touches and not contributing much else. He remained on the pitch for the entire match, not adding much to his performance except one shot fired over the crossbar.

Sadio Mane – 6

Mane provided a nice volley off a Trent Alexander-Arnold corner kick to set up Fabinho for the opening goal. He managed three shots, one forcing a save from Nick Pope, before being subbed off relatively early in the second half.

Substitutions

Thiago – 7 (59′, for Henderson)

Thiago looked fantastic from the moment he came on the pitch. He helped the Reds hold on to their one goal lead by bringing a quicker tempo and cleaner passing in the midfield than Liverpool had been able to accomplish up to that point on Sunday.

Diogo Jota – 5 (67′, for Mane)

Jota did not make too much of an impact after being subbed on, and missed his one chance to extend the Liverpool lead off the weak play-in from Salah.

James Milner – N/A (90′, for Keita)

As usual, nothing much to write about with just a few minutes, but always nice to see Milly.
