Dante Vanzeir isn’t the name on every football fan’s lips, but his team Union St.Gilloise are causing a mammoth upset in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League, mainly thanks to the 23-year-olds goals and assists.

Vanzeir currently tops the list for goals and assists for under-23 players in Europe; ahead of household names like Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and man of the moment Dusan Vlahovic, who recently made the switch from Fiorentina to Juventus for a staggering £62 million.

A product of the renowned Genk academy, which has provided the building blocks for an illustrious list of players like, De Bruyne, Courtois and Christian Benteke, Vanzeir found his footballing feet last season with Union St.Gilloise helping them gain promotion to the Belgian top-flight providing 21 goals and nine assists in 27 games.

Now, with Liverpool forward Divock Origi almost certain to depart this summer, the hunt for a versatile replacement will be on, and Jurgen Klopp would be foolish to overlook a cut-price deal for Vanzeir.

Transfermarkt, currently rate the 23-year-olds price tag at £4.95 million, an absolute bargain when you consider the forward’s age and contributions to his team so far this campaign; 14 goals and 10 assists in 27 appearances.

Furthermore, Vanzeir received his first international call-up to the talented Belgian setup by Roberto Martinez this season, adding fuel to the forward’s fire that he is being considered as a special talent.

However, it’s the Union St.Gilloise attacker’s versatility which is the most appealing factor when considering him for a switch to Anfield; he can be utilised up top centrally and even on the right-hand side of attack as a forward-thinking winger; it’s this kind of adaptability that could be prolific in Liverpool’s style of play.

Vanzeir certainly fits the mould for the type of player Liverpool would sign, he’s young with packs of potential at 23-years-old and would be available for a fraction of the price you’d pay for similar talents in one of Europe’s top five leagues.
