Ajax winger Antony has emerged as a top target for Liverpool this summer after impressing in Champions League and Eredivisie games this campaign.

Since joining from Sau Paulo in 2020, the 21-year-old winger has featured heavily in Erik ten Hag’s scintillating Ajax side who have scored 51 goals and conceded just five times so far this season.

However, it’s been in this year’s Uefa Champions League where the young Brazilian starlet’s talent has been on full display, with the winger managing two goals and four assists during the group stages; a sure sign he can deliver on Europe’s grandest stage.

According to Graeme Bailey of 90min, Liverpool have been monitoring the Brazilian international closely since his time at Sau Paulo and will step up their interest this summer after being impressed by his quick adaptation to playing in Europe.

The links to such a talent will come as no surprise after Jurgen Klopp invested heavily in Luis Diaz in the January transfer window, highlighting the need for squad depth, and competition for places being key to any charge for silverware.

Now that the right-wing of attack is sorted with both Diaz and Sadio Mane vying for the starting spot, it seems Antony would be the perfect backup and successor to 30-year-old Mohamed Salah on the left-hand side of Liverpool’s flank.

However, any push Liverpool makes to capture the signature of the Brazilian will face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea, who are both reportedly interested in bringing the superstar to the Premier League.

Whether or not Liverpool pursue their rumoured interest in Antony remains to be seen, nevertheless, with a strong Brazilian contingent happy and winning silverware at Anfield, this could be the decisive trick up Jurgen Klopp’s sleeve in luring him away from fellow Premier League contenders.
