Thiago Alcantara hits 50 Liverpool appearances with his start against Leeds United
The 30-year-old Spanish international left Bayern Munich to join the Reds in September 2020. Despite some injuries and a few COVID-19 setbacks since arriving at Anfield, Thiago has been an important piece in the Liverpool midfield.
Thiago boasts an impressive record of 32 wins, 10 losses, and 7 draws in his previous 49 appearances for the club. Liverpool average 2.1 points per match in which Thiago makes an appearance.
He has chipped in with just three goals and one assist since his arrival, but it’s obvious to anyone who knows the sport just how vital he is to the Reds midfield. Thiago’s ability to keep possession, play accurate long passes and transition the play from the back to the front is something that Liverpool supporters can’t take for granted. The Spaniard has an uncanny ability to pick out players in between the lines and find them with great precision. Thiago has been Liverpool’s midfield maestro since his arrival in Merseyside.
Thiago and his playing style complement Liverpool’s other midfield options exceptionally well. A midfield featuring Thiago with a robust ball-winning player and a more attack-minded midfielder is the perfect storm. Players like Fabinho and Curtis Jones really balance the midfield and work well when playing alongside Thiago.

With the Premier League title race heating up and domestic and European cups still up for grabs, it is crucial that Thiago stays healthy and continues to play a key role in the Liverpool starting XI.
Congrats to Thiago on 50 Liverpool appearances and we can’t wait to see what does in the next 50.
