Diogo Jota has had a successful training session on Wednesday after fearing serious injury following the Reds Champions League match at Inter.  This is a promising step in Jota’s overall recovery and an indicator that all systems are a go for him to travel to Wembley and play in the Carabao Cup Final against Chelsea.

Jota was a key factor in landing the Reds in the final, scoring both goals in Liverpool’s 0-2 second-leg win at Emirates Stadium.  His 12 Premier League goals are sandwiched between Sadio Mane’s 11, and Mo Salah’s 19 goals at the top of the Premier League Golden Boot race.  Diogo’s return will surely be welcome and hopefully impactful against a tough Chelsea side.

I don’t anticipate Diogo Jota to be fit to play a full 90 minutes on Sunday, so expect Luis Diaz to continue to make an impact, especially while Roberto Firmino is nursing an injury.  Thankfully the Reds depth has gotten much stronger since the transfer deadline.

Not too long ago, an injured Firmino and a recovering Jota would be cause for panic, now the Reds have a litany of options at full strength, and even when weakened can put forward a top attacking front.

The midfield is at its strongest in recent memory with Harvey Elliott and Thiago at full health at last while Fabinho has a career year.

The defense is world-class, just one year removed from several depth issues.

Life is good for the Reds right now.  They are three points back in the Premier League and hold the goal differential over Manchester City.  They have a lead over Inter bringing their Champions League tie to Anfield.  They are favored to win a trophy on Sunday, and at full strength, this team can win even more this year.
