Forwards

Sadio Mane – 9

Mane started in the center forward position and came out of the gate a bit slow alongside the rest of the Reds, being dispossessed twice and giving Brighton a few opportunities for counterattacks. Once Liverpool gained control, however, Mane was smooth sailing for the rest of the match. Mane had three successful dribbles, had a brilliant 95% pass accuracy, and contributed defensively with one tackle and one clearance.

Luis Diaz – 9

Luis Diaz had a rough game on Saturday. Not rough in that he struggled, just the opposite is true in fact, but rather a physically rough game. Diaz charged through for the opening goal even facing the flying arm and leg of Brighton keeper Sanchez. Diaz continued to play superbly on both sides of the ball, nearly scoring a second goal late in the match and successfully tackling twice and with one interception.

Mo Salah – 7

Salah scored on a penalty kick to secure his fourth 20 goal Premier League season in five years with the Reds. With his other opportunities, Salah was denied by Sanchez once on a counter-attack and dragged one shot completely wide before being subbed out for injury.

Substitutions

Diogo Jota (64′, for Salah) – 6

Thiago Alcantara (64′, for Keita) – 6
