Deadline day this year for Liverpool was a tricky one, with a deal for Portugal Under-21 international and Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho falling through last minute.

Now, the Premier League giants are in touching distance of bringing the talented youngster into the ranks at Anfield, beating off competition from Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.

According to Football Insider,  Liverpool have an agreement in principle to sign Carvalho from Fulham when he becomes a free agent in June this year.

Key terms have now been agreed between the two clubs, with Liverpool right-back Neco Williams, who is currently on loan at the Cottagers, ready to move the other way.

Any failure to get the deal done in June would see the transfer fee decided by an independent tribunal, something which both clubs seem to want to avoid happening.

Carvalho’s move to Jurgen Klopp’s setup is a shrewd bit of business, the youngster has been a key cog in Fulham’s Premier League promotion push this campaign playing in the number 10 role; a position in which he could thrive with Liverpool’s attacking style of play.

Still, in the early stages of his career, Carvalho has shown glimpses of what any top team would want from their number 10; scoring eight times and assisting six in 29 appearances for the London club this season.

This isn’t the first time Liverpool have stolen a red-hot talent from Fulham, with Jurgen Klopp’s team scouting a 16-year-old Harvey Elliott from their ranks in 2019.
