The rumour mill has been churning for months that Liverpool are frontrunners to sign teenage sensation Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Now, it is being reported that Jurgen Klopp’s side will face stiff competition from La Liga giants Real Madrid for the England international’s signature.

According to the German news outlet BILD,  Los Blancos are ready to rival Liverpool, however, both clubs are looking to sign the midfielder in 2023, rather than this summer.

Any deal for the highly-rated youngster would be costly, with Borussia Dortmund slapping a £100 million price tag upon the 18-year-olds head.

Bellingham has proven himself to be pivotal for anything good Borussia Dortmund have done this campaign, providing goals and assists at vital times for the Bundesliga club.

Additionally, his midfield position is certainly a place where Liverpool need to improve, after losing Georginio Wijnaldum last summer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite his age, Bellingham has already appeared 83 times for Borussia Dortmund, suggesting he’d need little time settling into the hustle and bustle of the Premier League calendar.

Nevertheless, Liverpool should be cautious when considering a move; you only have to look at former Borussia Dortmund Jadon Sancho’s failure to settle into action in England after Manchester United paid £90 million for his services last summer.

Any move Liverpool make for Bellingham looks set to be made in 2023, the youngster is tied down at Dortmund until 2025, and with fellow young superstar Erling Haaland looking set to leave the German club this summer, it seems Dortmund will want to keep onto the England international for another year at least.
