Liverpool are on the hunt for a new shirt sponsorship, as their current deal with Standard Chartered is coming to an end in May 2023.

The Reds are exploring a host of possibilities, however, there is a big chance that their new shirt sponsorship will be a cryptocurrency firm.

According to The Athletic, the Anfield hierarchy are exploring deals with various companies from industries like media, tourism, electronics, and cryptocurrency.

There is still a chance that Liverpool extend their current contract with Standard Chartered, although, this is becoming increasingly unlikely.

If Liverpool were to move forward with a deal to make a cryptocurrency firm their main shirt sponsor, it would be a Premier League first; unprecedented waters to say the least.

Any deal, however, may come with a heap load of scrutiny, due to the unpredictable nature and lack of regulations within crypto firms.

This isn’t the first time LFC have dived into the blockchain; the Reds created their own NFTs (Non-fungible tokens) in March.

Digital artworks of fan favourites, Mohamed Salah and Jurgen Klopp were put on sale, nevertheless, it seems the artworks failed to capture the attention and hearts of the fans with the club failing to meet their desired appeal to investors.
