Liverpool fans woke up Thursday morning with smiles on their faces, the Reds had just won the first leg of their Uefa Champions League semi-final against Villarreal and rumours were swirling that manager Jurgen Klopp had decided to extend his Liverpool contract.
Later that day the news every fan had been dreaming of finally came to fruition, Klopp had agreed on a two-year contract extension committing him to the Merseyside club until 2026.
Klopp has been adamant for some time that he would be ending his stay at Anfield in 2024, regardless of results and the team’s performances.
Nevertheless, as the squad chases an unprecedented quadruple, Klopp added fuel to the fire by committing himself to the club instead of taking a break from the game.

Along with Klopp, assistant managers Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz have also decided to extend their stay, something which Klopp highlighted was a huge factor for him to commit to carrying on at the football club.
The German tactician also suggested that his wife, Ulla, had a massive part to play in his decision to stay, stating that whilst sitting at the kitchen table one morning she posed the question of how could they possibly leave this all behind in two years time.
Klopp first joined the club in 2015 and has since taken the Premier League and football world by storm; guiding the Reds to five trophies, with the possibility of winning three more this campaign.
Klopp now has the chance to become immortal at Anfield, he’ll almost certainly go down as one of the greatest coaches the club has ever had, but the question remains, will he be the best to ever do it?
