Carabao Cup deja vu, Liverpool win FA Cup in penalty shootout

Luis Diaz – 9
Right out of the gate, Diaz was able to absolutely shred through the right side of the Chelsea defense and burn past Trevoh Chalobah multiple times. Diaz set up a number of dangerous crosses in the first half, and only got more aggressive and relentless throughout the second half, including shots off the post or just wide. By the end of regulation, he had six shots. Though clearly exhausted, Diaz remained on for a few minutes of extra time before being subbed off. He was relentless in this one and did absolutely everything but score on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah – 6
Salah found a few moments of opportunity including a header off-target early before being subbed off in the first half with injury.
Sadio Mane – 7
Mane was aggressive but not able to find the same space for himself than the likes of Diaz, and was dispossessed a number of times throughout his massive 120 minutes played. Despite his struggles on the ball, he still managed three key passes and three dribbles past Chelsea defenders, and made real effort to fall back and regain control of the ball when he lost it.
Subs
Diogo Jota (33′, for Salah)
Jota came in early for an injured Mo Salah. He wasted a brilliant chip cross from Robertson with a volley way off the mark in the first half. Scored in penalties.
James Milner (74′, for Keita)
Brought a high energy level to an exhausted Liverpool squad. Scored in penalties.
Joel Matip (’91, for Van Dijk)
Matip did well right away to push away a Chelsea attack early in extra time.
Roberto Firmino (98′, for Diaz)
Didn’t have a single touch on the ball in extra time. Scored in penalties.
Kostas Tsimikas (110′, for Robertson)
Managed one long cross late but nothing came of it. Scored the game-winner in penalties.
