The Sadio Mane transfer saga looks set to become one of football’s biggest stories this summer after the Senegalese superstar expressed his desire to leave Anfield.

The 30-year-old has one year left on his current Liverpool contract and has been strongly linked with a move to Bundesliga juggernauts FC Bayern Munich.

Mane has been a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp’s revolution on Merseyside, becoming the German tactician’s first major signing at the club, helping them to trophies aplenty along the way.

According to The Times Bayern Munich have made an opening bid of £25 million for Mane, however, this initial offer has been rebuffed by the Liverpool hierarchy.

The offer, albeit an initial one, is certainly below the club’s value for Mane, but with the Bundesliga club very much interested it bodes well for Liverpool to sell their man for the right price.

Any sum received for Mane would result in it being put towards a new talismanic figure to spearhead Liverpool’s attack; Benfica’s Darwin Nunez appears to be the most likely.

Liverpool will surely want to have a player pretty much signed and sealed before letting Mane leave, but this is a transfer saga which looks set to take the stage throughout the summer months.
