The Premier League has always been known to have some of the most prolific strikers fighting it out for top honours. This season the Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola battle takes a step into a new era with Darwin Nunez and Erling Haaland leading their respective lines.

Erling Haaland started his Manchester City career with two goals in his opening game in a 2-0 win over West Ham United.

Darwin Nunez however managed just one in a disappointing 2-2 draw against new boy Fulham.

However, this marks the start of what could be one of the most talked about striker rivalries in Nunez and Haaland.

Alan Shearer one of the Premier League’s most prolific strikers who has scored in excess of 260 in the English top flight, congratulated Haaland on opening his account on Twitter.

Haaland is no doubt a great striker with the potential to reach the very top, however, as a Liverpool fan, I have always believed that Nunez who comes with a quieter reputation and is going to be outscoring Haaland in the Premier League.

Luckily, Shearer also mentioned that he would not be surprised if Nunez would outscore Haaland.

One thing for sure is that as fans, we should buckle our seatbelts as we are embarking on a journey that is only going to make football more interesting over the new future.
