Liverpool have had their fair share of bad luck, and, quite frankly, bad performances in recent weeks and months, so much so that they find themselves out of the Champions League spots. They still have enough time to turn things around, but they need signings, which they didn’t make apart from Cody Gakpo, and they also need a lot of little things to go their way.

For instance, they have had a bunch of injury issues as of late, they’ve also had a bland playing style, which is very, very surprising considering it’s Liverpool we are talking about. The squad needs so many things, but they don’t have them due to either a lack of personnel or a lack of fitness for many key players.

Two of those key players are Virgil Van Dijk and Roberto Firmino. Well, one is more essential than the other, but they are both crucial to the squad, and even though Firmino isn’t a starter anymore, they would love his services off the bench if a certain situation arises.

We all know how important Van Dijk is to the squad, and, according to new reports by Liverpool Echo, via Anfield Watch, these two players have resumed training ahead of the game against Wolves.

Van Dijk, Firmino won’t feature in Liverpool vs Wolves, but should be fit in time for the game vs Real Madrid

That’s the big game. Real Madrid. Both teams are struggling right now, but a lot can change in just two weeks, and you never know what to expect from either side when it comes to Champions League nights.

But, Van Dijk and Firmino will certainly be very important for that game, particularly the Danish centre-back. We saw Konate pick up an injury not too long ago, so it’s good news for Klopp that they have resumed training.

According to the report, they may be able to feature against Everton in the Merseyside Derby on February 13, which is good. Getting into match fitness ahead of such a crucial clash is important, and it’s going to be vital for these two to get a few reps in before the big night.

It’s going to be a very tough game, and I hope Liverpool are ready to deal with the pace and skill of Vinicius Jr., especially now that Konate might not be around to cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold. Big, big decisions.
