Liverpool’s best midfielder practically ruled out for Real Madrid clash
Liverpool are in a really tough spot right now and things get a little better before they get a few times worse. A few days ago we got news from different sources about Diogo Jota’s return to training, Virgil Van Dijk’s return to full fitness and the same for a couple other players. But, now, a couple of days before the game against Everton, it was reported that Thiago was injured.
Now, we have the severity of the injury.
According to reports, the Spaniard could miss up to four weeks of action, taking him out of the team for at least the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 clash against the mighty Real Madrid.
He could miss a lot more than just that, and I think the game in mind for a potential return is the second leg of the clash against Los Blancos.
As I said in a previous article, this accounts for weeks and months of poor squad planning and lacklustre squad depth, which will only go away once Liverpool realise they need to sign players and a bunch of them.
One or two can take them closer to the top, but for a club like Liverpool, that’s not the end goal, is it? Close to the top. They want to be at the top, and if that’s the end goal, then they need a few really good players in the right positions, and go from there.
But right now, the issue at hand, is that Klopp would be forced to play players that are not necessarily good enough to have to start against a team like Real Madrid. Playing James Milner or Jordan Henderson in a Round Of 16 clash against reigning champions is not a good idea, but because of the poor squad planning, Klopp will be left with no choice.

Thiago is out, and nothing can be done about that.
