It could be considered a fact at this point that a proper rebuild is long overdue at Liverpool. They won the Premier League, won some other trophies, reached the Champions League final thrice, won once, got close to winning the league on a couple of other occasions. But now, they find themselves far down the Premier League table, with injuries to key players and bad performances from great players, bad performances from a collective sense, and an overreliance on injury prone, past-their-prime players not helping Liverpool’s case.
They need a rebuild, and that means selling a few players and buying a few in return as well. One such player may be Roberto Firmino, who, according to the Daily Mirror, is being linked to a move to Atletico Madrid.
Atletico Madrid want Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino as a replacement for Joao Felix
According to the report, the Spanish club views Firmino as a very similar player to Joao Felix, and it looks very evident that Felix does not want to come back to Spain at the end of this season. A move is likely, which is why the club is preparing itself by looking at options for a potential replacement.
Firmino would be a decent option to have for Simeone’s side. However, his performances have not been nearly the same as they once were, and he is just not considered that big of an asset by Liverpool anymore, which is why it makes sense for them to sell him.
It doesn’t really make sense for Atletico to buy him on a tactical level, because if they think that Felix wasn’t working at Atletico, they don’t need to buy a player that, according to them, is similar to Felix to replace the Portuguese. It doesn’t really make sense.

Liverpool were, according to reports, going to offer Firmino a new contract, but if this rumor is true, then I guess it puts the other rumor to bed. Liverpool should move on from Firmino, edge towards a rebuild, and go from there.
