Liverpool: A midfielder that is no longer in Klopp’s plans for next season

Jurgen Klopp does not have a lot of midfielders he can choose from these days. Many of them don’t, or at least shouldn’t, make the cut. Most of the rest are injured. It is pretty sad. An overhaul of midfield is definitely needed, and we will see a lot of movement from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

Until then, Liverpool will have to make do with what they have.

Well, according to reports, they have already decided on the midfielder they absolutely do not want in the squad next summer.

Arthur Melo has played a whopping 14 minutes this season, spending the rest of the time either on the bench or on the sidelines recovering from a pretty serious injury.

Arthur did return to training recently, but he hasn’t played a single minute since. Maybe he is not fully fit, and maybe Klopp doesn’t want him to play. Be that as it may, Klopp has already decided, according to reports, that he does not consider Arthur as part of his plans next summer. He wants him gone.

According to UOL Esporte, Arthur will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. What’s worse for him is that Juventus, his parent club, don’t want him either. They will put him on the transfer market.

I mean, I never saw this move as something that made sense in the short or long term, but I mean, he still could’ve helped the team in some ways, if he was fit. He’s not an awful player. Liverpool probably could’ve used a midfielder just to see if it works. But his injuries stopped it from happening.

There is no reason for Reds to keep him around next season because Arthur is not going to play even if he is fit. The club will go for midfielders next season, and Arthur will just keep going down further in the pecking order. It’s not really something that the club or the player want, so it makes sense for Arthur to leave.
