Liverpool and people, sources related to the club have previously talked about an overall revamp of the midfield in the summer. It’s clear that they need it, it gets even clearer after each passing game that there is a huge need to sign midfielders.
There was a report in the past that talked about how many midfielders Klopp wants to sign this summer.
According to that report, Klopp wants three midfielders. Two talented ones that are expensive, and one lesser-known midfielder that they can turn into a potential star or a player that helps out in the rotation when the time comes.
Well, new reports have emerged, and we are now looking at candidates for that third midfield option. Well, the first two midfielders have not been signed yet, but it doesn’t hurt to keep your tabs open.
According to Sean Walsh and Graeme Bailey, Liverpool have sent scouts to look at Mainz midfielder Anton Stach recently. This was also reported by 90min not too long ago, and was covered by my colleague Divyam.
It’s not really a bad shout. He wears Red, so that’s a plus.
Stach has made 19 appearances in the Bundesliga this season, scoring once and assisting three. He’s 24 years old, so plenty of room for improvement in all areas.
It’s pretty clear that he is talented on the defensive end, as he is predominantly a defensive minded midfielder. Stach averages 3.06 duels won out of 4.10 per 90, 7.78 recoveries made per 90, 1.67 interceptions made per 90, and 1.11 tackles won per 90.
But, no one talks about his offensive game. Stach actually creates a lot of chances for his teammates. He creates more than 3 shot creating actions per 90, which is a lot for a CDM, and that would also provide options for Liverpool to use him as a six sometimes and as an eight on other nights. He’s versatile enough to be able to do that.
While he is not really good enough to start for Liverpool yet, he would certainly be an upgrade on the midfield options the club currently has to offer on the bench.

It’s pretty clear that the club doesn’t only need starters. They also need good bench options, and that’s what it would be like for Stach if he joins Liverpool, and the other way around as well. And who knows, he could also turn into a player that eventually becomes a starter for this side.
His two-way presence and versatility make him such a good option to have, which is what I mean when I write this piece. Liverpool should go for him.
