How much would Konate’s return improve Liverpool?
Liverpool are struggling on all fronts this season, and that is down to bad performances, bad luck and bad injuries to good players. They need their stars back, and they need to start playing well too. Well, at least the former is happening.
There are a number of players that have returned from injury in the past month or so, which is very good news for Liverpool. Something that hasn’t changed a lot since is Liverpool’s result sheet. They are still losing or drawing many games, and they need to figure it out before it is too late.
But, as I said, they are still getting their stars back, and Ibrahima Konate is one of them, who is set to play against Wolves over the weekend.
Now, we haven’t seen Konate play much this season because he got injured as soon as the term started, and hasn’t recovered from injuries since. But, he’s finally back, and we all know how good Konate is when he’s 100% fit. He kept a healthy Vinicius Junior at bay for almost the entirety of the Champions League final without much help from Trent. That’s a big task, and Konate did it as well as anyone can against a player like Vinicius.
Having him back is huge, because their defense has been leaking goals this season. Konate’s partnership with Virgil Van Dijk is fantastic. The two complement each other really well. It’s a really good pairing, and Klopp will definitely be happy he doesn’t have to see Joe Gomez start against Vini in the second leg of their round-of-16 clash, should Konate stay fit till then.
I mean, even with Konate, there is still a very, very slim chance of Liverpool winning the tie, but Konate exponentially improves them on at least the defensive end.
Konate’s return could be huge for Liverpool in the league as well. There is still a chance for them to finish in the top four, and if they play their best players week in, week out – Konate included – then they can definitely get top four.

The defense would be much, much sturdier with Konate coming back, and it would definitely help us see at least a shadow of the Liverpool we all know and love.
