Predicting Liverpool’s Next Five Premier League Fixtures
Liverpool have navigated through a tricky set of fixtures to begin the season. The Reds opened their campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Chelsea and after battling back to claim a comfortable 3-1 win against Bournemouth, they made their biggest statement to date this season by fighting back from a goal down while also a man down to beat Newcastle away. They then eased to a far more straightforward 3-0 victory at home to Villa before the international break brought a pause to the season. With Liverpool’s campaign set to resume this weekend, here’s a look at what we can expect from their next five league fixtures:
Wolves (A)-Saturday, September 16th
Saturday’s trip to Wolves should present a more-than-decent opportunity for the Reds to gain further momentum at the start of their season. Wolves’ lone victory so far has come against Everton, who themselves have taken just a point from 4, and they’ll be in for a far tougher afternoon against their visitors from the other half of Merseyside. Liverpool’s depth and firepower in the final third will be too much for a leaky Wolves backline that has already shipped four to Brighton and three to Crystal Palace. Expect Klopp’s side to put the misery from their 3-0 defeat in this fixture last season behind them.
Prediction: Wolves 0-3 Liverpool
West Ham (H)-Sunday, September 24th
The Hammers’ strong start to the campaign has them currently level on points with Liverpool with three wins and a draw to open their season. They travel to champions Manchester City this weekend and their performance at the Etihad could provide an idea of what to expect from David Moyes’ men when they travel to Anfield the following week. West Ham’s victory away at Brighton already demonstrates their ability to impress even at the league’s toughest grounds and should warn Klopp that while his side are favorites, they’ll have little room for error.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 West Ham
Tottenham (A)-September 30th
Liverpool can expect a serious test when they travel to Tottenham on the 30th. Ange Postecoglou has experienced an enjoyable start to his reign as Spurs manager, having guided his new side to three wins and a draw in their opening four fixtures. Spurs look to have moved on quickly from Harry Kane’s departure as they’ve scored at least twice each match. For all of the Reds quality going forward, they will need to be wary of Spurs’ threat ahead of this fixture.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-2 Liverpool
Brighton (A)-October 8th
Liverpool’s next trip does not get much easier as they face off against Brighton the following weekend. Roberto De Zerbi’s side are also in rich goal-scoring form as they’ve begun their campaign with 4-1 victories against Luton Town and Wolves and an impressive 3-1 triumph over Newcastle. Their shocking defending in their 3-1 defeat at home to West Ham, however, does point to a vulnerability at the back and Liverpool certainly have the tools to exploit that. This has all the signs of a thrilling contest.
Prediction Brighton 2-2 Liverpool
Everton (H) -October 21st
Following what looks to be two difficult trips, Liverpool will return to Anfield for what in all probability will be a joyous afternoon against their neighbors. The Reds’ only defeat to Everton at Anfield in the past twenty years took place in an empty stadium in 2020-2021, but with the Anfield crowd in full force, it’s become custom for Liverpool to assert their supremacy in this fixture.
Prediction: Liverpool 4-0 Everton
