Liverpool squares off with a high flying Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in what is clearly the Premier League Match of the week. Both squads are stocked with talent and there will be no shortage of showdowns all over the field. Let’s get into the best ones.

Salah versus Son –In a battle of club talismen, Mohamed Salah and Hueng-Min Son have been in scintillating form this season. To the surprise of nobody of course.

Both men are more than capable of putting on a match winning performance. Neither defense will ever be comfortable as long as these two are on the pitch. You can expect plenty of incisive fireworks from these guys.

Dominik Szoboszlai or James Maddison? – In what could be an even more important showdown in this match, Szoboszlai and Maddison have gotten off to flying starts with their new clubs.

Szoboszlai has settled in quickly and has already become an instrumental player for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

James Maddison is enjoying perhaps the best spell of his career to date as he is also thriving under the Postecoglou system. Both players will be battling for the creative control in the heart of the pitch.

The winner of this showdown could perhaps be a sign of which club will come out the better.

Luis Diaz, Dejan Kulusevski…who will be the better Robin? – These are two attacking players that are some of the most fun to watch in the Premier League. Their only fault? Playing in the same squads as Salah and Son.

However, neither man is one to be forgotten. Diaz has been in confident form in recent weeks and I have him as the favorite to make more of an impact in this showdown.

Dejan cannot be overlooked though or he will spring up and bite the vulnerable Liverpool defense.

Christian Romero or VVD? Who will lead the stronger backline? – Neither club has had magnificent defensive performances yet this season. With all of the attacking talent on display in this match, of all the showdowns, this one could mean the most is between the defenses.

Who will hold up well enough to get over the line? The tests, both physical and mental, will surely be flying from the very beginning.

Whoever handles this pressure the best will surely have their club in a position to grab all the points.

There are so many talented footballers that will be on the pitch for this match it is going to be more must see TV than your typical Premier League outing. It is a good barometer for Liverpool to see how entrenched their Top 4 credentials truly are at this point in the season.

Our eyes will have to be jumping all over the pitch to keep up with these varying showdowns but you can bet it will be outstanding theater.
