It was an awful day in the France Countryside, as Liverpool lost 3-2 to Toulouse in the Europa League. Toulouse is 14th in Ligue 1 but dominated the match today. Take a look at the best and worst performers from the match.

The Europa League is ideally seen as a day off for layers like Salah, Virgil and Szoboszlai. But today, Salah and Szoboszlai were needed at halftime. Jurgen Klopp said the defense today was “disappointing” and “ can’t happen again”.

With their draw at Luton and their loss today, Liverpool need a dominant performance at Anfield against Brentford.

Best performer

Harvey Elliott: The young English Swiss Army knife was class versus Toulouse, his energy and explosion in the midfield creating mismatches and breaks.

Elliott had the most successful dribbles (3) and won 71% of his ground duels. Elliott has been one of the most consistent midfielders for Klopp this season when given the chance.

His work rate and love for the club is shown every time he steps on the pitch, with Curtis Jones hurt again, Elliott is 4th on the depth chart for midfielders.

With Gravenberch approaching stardom, can Elliott became one of the consistent performers for Klopp game in and game out?

Worst Performer

Kostas Tsimikas: Tsimikas is not a Premier League left back, his  inability to cross with any consistency along with his casual demeanor on the pitch.

He had a torrid night in France as his outing was indicative of a Liverpool side that lacked any sense of urgency or drive. He was the most noticeable of the atrocious performers.

Known as the Greek Scouser, Tsimikas had an error that led to a Toulouse goal and was quickly subbed at halftime. Depth is an issue at full back with one true, Premier League ready full back in Trent Alexander-Arnold.

With Robertson out until late November and early December, Liverpool need to look for Left back depth in the transfer window at the first opportunity.

It was not a pretty night in France as there were multiple players that could have fallen into the worst performers section. Hopefully this is only a blip on the radar going forward. Leave the bad mojo in France and move forward.
