The Premier League is very much back with a bang on Super Sunday, isn't it? After Manchester City were "found guilty of all charges" by an independent commission, the club still refusing to accept any wrongdoing, every football fan up and down this country surely wants Liverpool to steamroller the Sky Blues on Sunday.
One thing is for certain, everyone will be watching, so we have attempted to make three bold and very specific predictions ahead of this match. Come back on Sunday evening to see how right or wrong we were!
Awkward punditry
In the 40-page document published by the independent Commission, the word "sham" is used eight times. Ferran Soriano has been asked if he is CEO of a sham club and, the longer Man City are allowed to continue playing, having been found guilty, this campaign is in danger of becoming a sham season, as the Sky Blues have made the previous 16.
Thus, with Enzo Maresca's team currently top of the Premier League, how on earth do writers and pundits alike discuss this team in the confines of a title race? With that preamble out of way, our prediction relates specifically to when the Man City bus arrive at Anfield, with Liverpool fans planning a hostile reception for their visitors, akin to scenes from the Champions League tie of 2018.
We are predicting that a pundit on Sky Sports in the UK will say something along the lines of "that anger is reflective of the feeling that exists towards Manchester City from every football fan up and down this country". If pushed, we think Jamie Carragher will be the one to say this, but it could easily be Gary Neville.
A red card in the match
Amidst a febrile atmosphere in the stands, we're forecasting that things will get pretty heated on the pitch too. Dominik Szoboszlai was sent off in memorable circumstances right at the end of Man City's most-recent visit to Anfield in February, the strangest VAR intervention we'll ever see.
This is the only red card brandished across the last 24 meetings between the two clubs, dating back to Sadio Mané's dismissal for kicking Ederson in the head at the Etihad nine years ago. However, that will surely change. He may be the obvious candidate, but we're going for Enzo Fernández to be given his marching orders for something petulant and stupid.
Bradley Barcola to score his first Liverpool goal
He was always going to need a bit of time to get up to speed, but it has to be slightly concerning that Bradley Barcola is yet to score for Liverpool this season, albeit after only five matches. However, in the absence of Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo, the Reds really need him to come to the fore.
Potentially set to start at centre-forward, we are backing Barcola to bag a big moment, up against a Man City defence that has already shipped three against Arsenal and Sunderland this season.
