Liverpool were not able to mount a challenge to defend their Premier League title this season. For some legends of the club, this is now the end of the road, and they will not be back at the club for the next campaign.
3 Liverpool players who won't be back in the 2026/27 season
Mohamed Salah
There was such a saga last season as to whether or not Mohamed Salah would renew his Liverpool deal. He eventually did alongside Virgil van Dijk, but the club lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.
Salah could have left Liverpool at the height of winning the Premier League last season. However, he went on to endure a miserable campaign, where he was often disruptive to Arne Slot's side. He accused the club of "throwing him under the bus" and also made a critical social media post.
On the field, Salah's performances dipped; he scored just 12 goals with 10 assists in 41 games in all competitions this season.
This is far off the numbers that he is used to. It has already been confirmed that Salah will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. This is despite him having another year left on his contract. It remains to be seen where Salah goes next, but he has been heavily linked with the Saudi Pro League.
Andy Robertson
Andy Robertson is another Liverpool legend who has been a key part of their success domestically and in Europe in recent campaigns. The club signed a replacement for him in Milos Kerkez last summer from AFC Bournemouth. Robertson will leave Liverpool when his contract expires this summer.
Kerkez's form at times was indifferent, so Robertson still played 36 times this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists. He could now join Tottenham Hotspur after they maintained their Premier League status. However, Spurs face competition from other teams across Europe for his services.
Alisson
Alisson's departure is not confirmed, but he has been linked with Juventus recently. It looks like moving to Serie A is a real possibility for the goalkeeper.
The Brazilian has missed much of the season through injury. This has allowed Giorgi Mamardashvili to establish himself in Liverpool's lineup.
Alisson has been a mainstay in Liverpool's squad for many years alongside the likes of Salah and Robertson. It would definitely feel like the end of an era if Alisson were to depart the club as well this summer.
