It's the holiday season, a time of taking stock of what we have and showing gratitude. Family, friends and football for example?

Whatever it may be, there are always things to be thankful for and in the spirit of the season I thought this was a great opportunity to take stock of Liverpool Football Club at this current time.

Life is very good at the moment around Anfield, but I have narrowed it down to the four things Liverpool fans, and the club itself, should be most thankful for this holiday season. Let's get right into the list!

4. Being top in both the Premier League and Champions League

This one is not a guarantee of securing silverware in the respective competition, but I would much rather have the firm lead at the top of the table as opposed to chasing.

Liverpool started off scorching hot in the Premier League this season and there were times it looked like they might run away with it, however, after a few recent draws they have seen their lead shrink. Yet, a four point cushion with a game in hand at Christmas is a perfectly fine spot to be in.

The typical title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City are both struggling, especially City, so that could be two foes already out of the race at this juncture.

Looking at the Champions League, the Reds have a perfect record with big wins over clubs like Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan among others. They have been in impeccable form in this competition and it has been wonderful seeing peak European nights at Anfield.

Liverpool topping both of these tables is absolutely worth being thankful for.
