With a new winter transfer window, the rumors and links are set to begin again in earnest. Liverpool have some positions of need they could address this month.

Liverpool may not require too many additions this winter window as Arne Slot has his side flying high at the summit of the Premier League and Champions League.

But there are always areas of improvements both for now and the future and the scouting network will no doubt be working hard this month.

A new defender

Liverpool could arguably require more depth across the entire back four with aging players, contract issues and injuries plaguing the backline this winter.

A left back looks the most likely place to strengthen and the decision of Trent Alexander-Arnold could see the Reds need to replace on the right also.

Konate and van Dijk provide a solid CB pairing but Konate's recent injury record and the captain's own contract debacle leaves space for a signing or two at centre-half also. Here are some options:

Milos Kerkez - Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez has been linked with Liverpool all season after a very impressive start to his Bournemouth career over the last season and a half. The youngster is already an established top flight player and has an incredibly high ceiling.

Luca Netz - Also a left-back, Luca Netz is another Twenty-One year old who has already established himself in a top league. The Mönchengladbach defender has played 100 games in the Bundesliga already and has excellent quality in both directions.

Jeremie Frimpong - Jeremie Frimpong has been sensational under former Liverpool hero Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen.

The attacking right-back has a scarcely believable goalscoring record, though questions remain over his defensive abilities, especially outside of the back five he is accustomed too.

Antonio Silva - Another young man with plenty of potential, Antonio Silva is already a multi-cap winning defender for his nation of Portugal. The Benfica man possesses a great blend of speed and strength and has plenty of potential suiters.

A Midfield Addition

Whilst it looked light before the season began, Liverpool have shown an incredible depth in the middle of the park, largely thanks to the form of Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones.

It is still likely that Slot will want at least one further body in the area, particularly towards the business end of the season.

Martin Zubimendi - Summer saga aside, rumours have it Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi may regret opting to stay in Spain, amid Liverpool interest in the summer.

The Sociedad man is likely still on Slot's radar and time will tell if they try to poach the midfielder in January.

Youri Tielemans - Tielemans has impressed at both his Premier League sides over the last few years, more recently at fellow Champions League side Aston Villa.

The Belgian playmaker has a terrific eye for a pass but his work rate in a high press Liverpool midfield would certainly be questioned.

Forward options for the Attack

Liverpool have a sensational attack with goals coming from all areas. But the model of adapting and growth in those positions will never leave Liverpool and quality wide and central attacker will always be on the scouts instructions.

Omar Marmoush - A possible eventual successor to a rather talented fellow Egyptian, Omar Marmoush looks an incredible prospect.

Always showing potential, the now Twenty-Five year old is having an outstanding season in Germany and has a host of clubs interested.

Benjamin Sesko - Slovenian hot shot Benjamin Sesko has a goalscoring record far beyond his young age.

Sixteen goals for his country and over 60 league goals in his senior career at just Twenty-One, Sesko is a star for the present and the future,
