Liverpool enter the final weekend of 2024 in great shape after a wonderful first half of the campaign. Their final game of another superb year sees them travel to the capital to face West Ham.
We have gathered the biggest headlines for Liverpool fans to know heading into the weekend.
Top of the Tree
Arne Slot's incredible first few months in charge sees his Liverpool side seven points clear despite playing a game less than their title rivals.
Even though Arsenal are likely to close that gap to six, it could scarcely look healthier for the Reds. With only one league defeat this season, Liverpool have been almost perfect so far.
Though they haven't been as watertight of late, a big part of their commanding lead has been the defensive stability, having conceded seventeen in their seventeen games so far in the league.
Virgil van Dijk is having another imperious season but he hasn't take all the headlines at the back. Ibrahima Konate has been one of the best defenders in Europe. The Frenchman's recent injury loss has clearly affected his side and both Slot and his fans will be hoping for a swift return.
Inevitably both of Liverpool's goalkeepers have also continued to excel, with Caoimhin Kelleher proving a world class deputy to Alisson. Even third choice stopper Vitezslav Jaros got his moment this season, with a strong displays against Palace and Brighton.
Liverpool's attack has also been stellar, with Mohamed Salah at the very heart. The Egyptian continues to smash records and is on course for his most prolific season ever.
Dutchman Cody Gakpo and Colombian Luis Diaz have more than pulled their weight alongside Salah, both in double figures this season in all competitions.
Ryan Gravenberch is truly having a breakthrough year, becoming one of the worlds finest midfielders. Alexis Mac Allister has continued to be at his creative best and Liverpool's own Curtis Jones is having the best season of his career to date.
Contract Drama
It's impossible to not mention the dreaded contract situation with three of Liverpool's best players. Though the players and their new manager seem calm and are still thriving, in just a few days, that trio will be free to talk to potential suitors.
Salah may be in his thirties but is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. The record breaking forward is scoring and assisting for fun and is seemingly desperate to tie himself down at Anfield once more.
With rumours he may not even want a financial boost, this deal from the outside seems like a fairly easy one to complete and the Anfield faithful will be desperate to see it sorted sooner rather than later.
Van Dijk is another who seems absolutely convinced he wants to continue his Liverpool career. The Dutch defender is another who is still comfortably at the top of his game.
Virgil has already proved his incredible physical fitness by returning from an incredibly debilitating injury and climbing once more to the Mount Rushmore of world defenders.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is perhaps the most difficult deal to complete. One of the most creative players in the world and with another decade ahead of him, Alexander-Arnold has a wide array of admirers.
The Scouser has been heavily linked with joining close friend Jude Bellingham at Real Madrid and has been rumoured to want a long and lucrative contract. Liverpool will be desperate to keep the home grown hero and will want to put any rumours of a summer departure to bed.
January Around the Corner
January sees both a new year and a new transfer window and rumours, as always, are rife. With just a pair of signings brought in pre-season, Arne Slot may well be asking for some winter funds to step down on the gas in the hunt for the Premier League trophy.
A left-back seems like the most urgent position of note, with many of the rumours pointing at Bournemouth's Hungarian youngster Milos Kerkez. Only recently 21, the defender has already played over a hundred senior games, many of which in the Premier League.
Martin Zubamendi was all but ready to sign in the summer before opting to stay in Spain. With talk he is regretting that decision, Liverpool may well throw another proposal his way. Despite being fairly strong in midfield this season, it is an area Liverpool will always look to improve.
Another potential improvement is a true number nine. Whilst he adds chaos and confusion, Darwin Nunez is failing to fully deliver his potential and a world class striker could be just what Liverpool need to secure some more trophies.
There are plenty of intriguing options, including Newcastle hitman Alexander Isak, young Slovenian Benjamin Sesko and Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres.
