After a hugely successful start for Arne Slot in his first handful of games in charge of Liverpool, his side now faces a tough run of games after the international break.
The Reds will now play four games across ten days, all of which are extremely tough fixtures. There is expected to be lots of squad rotation and maybe some injuries due to the high amount of games.
One to note is Alisson Becker who is expected to be out for around six weeks. Today, I’m going to give you my predictions of how I think these next four games will play out.
1. Liverpool vs Chelsea (20th October, Anfield, Premier League)
This will be Liverpool’s biggest test at Anfield so far this season. Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League and are undefeated in their past seven games.
The Reds will also have to deal with star player Cole Palmer, who has 11 goal contributions in the league.
This fixture will also be the first game back after the international break. After the last international break, Liverpool lost their first game back against Nottingham Forest 1-0 at Anfield, so this will be on many fans’ minds.
Nevertheless, I can’t see Liverpool losing this game, considering the form they are in. I believe the game will be tough, but Arne Slot’s side will come away with a 2-1 win.
2. RB Leipzig vs Liverpool (23rd October, Red Bull Arena, Champions League)
Liverpool’s second game after the break is another tough one as they travel to Germany to face RB Leipzig.
Their opponents are currently undefeated in the Bundesliga and can be second only to Bayern Munich. However, as well as their league campaign may be going, they have lost both of their Champions League games so far against Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
Also, the last time Liverpool faced Leipzig, the Reds won 5-0 which will give fans a lot of confidence going into the game.
We should expect a lot of rotation of the squad for this game due to the hectic schedule that the club has to deal with, but I do believe that Liverpool will walk away with three points here. I’m predicting a 2-0 win away from home.
3. Arsenal vs Liverpool (27th October, Emirates Stadium, Premier League)
It really doesn’t get any easier for Liverpool! Playing away at Arsenal will be Liverpool’s hardest game of the season so far.
Arsenal are currently unbeaten in the Premier League and are third in the table. Mikel Arteta has created a very tight defensive unit for the Gunners, and they are also unbelievably clinical from set-pieces.
Saying this, Liverpool have had the best defence in the Premier League this season after only conceding two goals. They will be without Alisson for this game and many others due to injury, but apart from him, expect Slot to field his best 11!
If Liverpool come away with one point from this game, I think it’ll be an excellent result. I’m saying that this game will end in a 1-1 draw.
4. Brighton vs Liverpool (30th October, Amex Stadium, EFL Cup)
The fourth and final game of this ten-day stretch is being played at Brighton in the EFL Cup. As this is another midweek game, we expect there to be a lot of squad rotation to give players some rest.
Ironically, Liverpool’s game after that is the following weekend also against Brighton! The Seagulls have had a strong start under new manager Fabian Hurzeler as they find themselves sixth in the Premier League.
When Liverpool faces Brighton, there’s no guarantee of what the result will be as both teams have taken multiple points off each other in a variety of occasions.
Saying this, I do think that Liverpool will come out on top in this fixture due to the likeliness of Brighton also rotating their squad, and they don’t have as much strength in depth as the Reds do. I predict that Liverpool will win this game 2-0.
