As we move forward into a new year at Liverpool Football Club, one thing will always remain true, and that is there is always swirling news and rumors to sift through.

The winter transfer window now being open also means the rumor mill is going to hit turbo drive for all the big clubs around the world.

As ever, we are here to sort through the various headlines and find the most important or viable things you should know going forward. So, for the first time in 2025, let's take a look at some of the biggest news headlines surrounding Liverpool this week.

Reds get Conor Bradley fitness boost

The young Northern Irish right-back is expected to make his return to the first team from an injury that has seen him miss 10 matches since late November.

The timing of his return could be interesting as the situation surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold will hit a crescendo this month at Anfield. When he's fit, Bradley has proven to be a wonderful Option B for the club at the right-back slot.

His tenacity and energy are welcome boosts to a defense that sometimes lacks that extra bite, even if they are still very good.

The young fullback coming back to the team in full health will be big as we look ahead to a busy stretch over the next few months that could determine how this season ends.

Getting our No. 84 back from injury could be like a semi-new signing as this will allow the likes of Jarell Quansah to return to central defense which is clearly where he should be.

AC Milan rumored interest in Darwin Nunez

This one at first would seem to be a viable thread to follow, but upon closer examination, perhaps not. The Italian giants have just undergone a managerial change and it would be very unique to see them make a move of this sort before the new boss has even settled in.

There was talk of a loan deal with an option to buy, but that does not appear to be a true option as Liverpool have dispelled the notion they will do any deal of that sort this month.

However, the rumors around the Uruguayan departing the club will only intensify over the next few weeks if he is not able to turn around his scoring form for the Reds.

Nunez is currently valued around €65 million on the market, meaning if he does leave now or in the summer, the club should be expecting a significant fee to come their way. Here's hoping he gets his scoring boots on and there is no need to make a move of that sort in the future.

As for the AC Milan interest, take it with a large pinch of salt.

Liverpool working hard on new TAA deal

Having just rejected an official bid from Real Madrid on New Year's Eve for the services of Trent Alexander-Arnold, the word around the club is they are working hard towards a deal for their starlet.

While Spanish outlets such as Marca have been putting out headlines that Trent has told the Reds he wants to leave, there is nothing coming from Anfield that has confirmed this.

The offer from Madrid was £20 million, which might seem nominal for a player of the ilk of TAA, but him now being free to negotiate with any club on a pre-contract agreement means the Reds have lost all leverage in transfer talks if they do arise.

He's been very open with the notion he does not want his contract saga to become a pubic spectacle. However, Real Madrid and the various news outlets in Spain might make that difficult.

Liverpool clearly want him to stay, but he is in a strong spot from a negotiating perspective. Having said that, he recently told Sky Sports News in December;

"I think we can win multiple trophies. I think that's the level that we're at. That's the level we've shown that we're capable of."

We'll see if the allure of silverware and playing with Slot can entice Trent to extend long-term or if he truly wants a new chapter.
