It has been a pretty quiet transfer window at Liverpool so far. Since the appointment of Andoni Iraola as manager, Víctor Munoz's £34.5 million move from Osasuna is the only real piece of confirmed transfer news.
Jérémy Jacquet's £60m arrival from Stade Rennais had been agreed in January, while we all already knew Ibrahima Konaté, Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah were departing as free agents.
Between them, that trio accumulated 1,003 appearances for the Reds, so this will leave a huge void, but could another long-time servant be heading for the exit door too?
It has been reported by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Curtis Jones has "reached an agreement" to join Nottingham Forest. This is of an interest to an Italian audience because Serie A champions Inter Milan were seemingly leading the race for his signature.
Last month, the Nerazzurri saw a £21.7 million offer rejected for Jones, but certainly did not appear to have given up hope on bringing the England international to San Siro. Inter's sporting director Piero Ausilio had this to say:
"Curtis Jones, we are paying attention to him. We didn't hide. We understand what the developments will be."Piero Ausilio
Gazzetta dello Sport also claimed that Jones had even asked Federico Chiesa about life in Italy, suggesting he was very much eager on the move. Now though, rather than calling Milan home, it seems as though Jones is set to swap Merseyside for the River Trent. So, why are Liverpool contemplating letting him leave?

Well, despite having appeared 228 times for his boyhood club, the 25-year-old has never really established himself as an ever present starter.
Out of his 34 Premier League outings last season, 16 came as a substitute, deployed in a wide-variety of positions, including right-back.
Nevertheless, there was surely hope from Jones side that next season could be different, given that Arne Slot has been replaced by Iraola. However he below Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch in the pecking order, the incoming Spaniard has seemingly decided to cash in on the 25 year old.
Nottingham Forest, Jones' seemingly most-likely destination, are in the market for a new midfielder, having just sold Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for a whopping £116 million. Meantime, back at Anfield, despite the options listed above, Iraola will want to bolster his midfield ranks, especially if Jones is to depart.
Widespread reports claim that, alongside Manchester United, Liverpool are interested in João Gomes. The Brazilian seemed destine to join Atlético Madrid from Wolves, but los Colchoneros decided to go for Morten Hjulmand at the last minute instead. Éderson of Atalanta was very much Man United's first-choice, but that move is now off, after an issue discovered during his Old Trafford medical, blowing the entire midfield market wide open perhaps.
Turning attention back to Jones to conclude, it will be a sad for all Liverpool supporters to see him leave. With Trent Alexander-Arnold having gone a year ago, we all remember how that went down, he was the remaining Scouser in the team. Very early on in his career, he scored that stunning curler to beat Everton 1-0 in an FA Cup Merseyside derby, and his contribution to the success enjoyed under Jürgen Klopp and latterly Slot won't be forgotten.
