The Professional Footballers’ Association held its annual awards ceremony on Tuesday evening, and it’s safe to say that Liverpool Football Club was well represented.

Four Reds—Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch—were named to the PFA Premier League Team of the Season, a fitting recognition of the individual brilliance that powered the club’s 2024/25 title triumph.

Additionally, while Milos Kerkez’s Liverpool career may not be off to a flyer of a start, fans can be assured that his undeniable quality will shine through soon, as the Hungarian was also named to the Team of the Season for his campaign with Bournemouth before departing for Merseyside.

Mohamed Salah

As for Liverpool’s honorees from last season’s play, the standout of the evening was unquestionably Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King continues to break records on and off the pitch, becoming the first player ever to win the PFA Player of the Season award three times, adding this year’s honor to his triumphs in 2017/18 and 2021/22.

The win is just the latest entry in Salah’s ever-growing list of career accolades, arriving on the heels of another milestone: drawing level with Premier League legend Andy Cole in fourth place on the all-time scorers list with his 187th goal in Friday’s pulsating win over Bournemouth.

That strike also lifted his record for Opening Day goals to 10; if there’s a Premier League record out there, Mo Salah seems destined to break it.

Beyond his remarkable 47 goal contributions in the league last season, Salah’s ease in securing the Player of the Season award may also reflect recognition of his extraordinary longevity.

At 33, he continues to dominate the world’s toughest league, consistently proving himself a more reliable contributor than many of his younger rivals.

2024-2025 was truly the season of Salah, and he rightly took home the most prestigious individual award in the land for good reason.

Virgil van Dijk

Another Liverpool veteran named to the Team of the Season was Virgil van Dijk, earning the honor for the fifth time—a testament to the Dutchman’s enduring dominance and illustrious career in English football.

Van Dijk—who previously won the Player of the Season award in 2018/19—was an obvious selection for the Team of the Season as captain of a title-winning side; but, a closer look at the numbers shows he earned the honor on far more than leadership alone.

The imperious center-half led all Premier League defenders in both total touches and successful passes, demonstrating that his influence on Liverpool’s play extends far beyond his defensive duties.

He also ranked third in the league for aerial duel win rate and recorded the fourth-highest total for defensive interventions across both the Premier League and Champions League—an unsurprising feat for the world’s best center-back.

Between his renowned one-on-one defending and his knack for helping develop younger teammates like Ibrahima Konaté, van Dijk enjoyed one of his finest seasons yet in ‘24-25.

While he may still be shaking off some early-season rust, Liverpool’s No. 4 will be aiming to secure a sixth Team of the Season nod by campaign’s end.

Midfield Pair

Meanwhile, two relatively new faces at Anfield—Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch—earned their first career Team of the Season selections.

Given just how influential both were in Liverpool’s squad, the recognition is thoroughly deserved.

Gravenberch’s 2024/25 season was a true coming-out party, with his consistent excellence in defensive duties earning him the 2024/25 Hublot Young Player of the Season award—a major milestone for the 23-year-old at Liverpool.

The Dutchman’s remarkable stamina defined his season, as he ranked among the top five midfielders for minutes played (3,169)—a figure that surely caught the voters’ attention.

His midfield partner, Alexis Mac Allister, also had a stellar season, closing out the campaign as the league’s Player of the Month in April.

He led Liverpool in tackles with 94—22 more than the next closest player—showcasing his all-around ability.

Macca’s versatility and consistent impact were on full display last season, and his inclusion in the Team of the Season reflects just how much he impressed.

Tuesday’s ceremony offered the players a well-deserved evening of celebration, but the winners would be the first to admit there’s little time to dwell on last season.

Liverpool face a massive clash with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Monday—a match sure to be charged with emotion, particularly given Alexander Isak’s dramatic saga surrounding a potential move to the Reds.
