The start of a new era. With news coming thick and fast, it’s safe to say that there is never a dull day with LFC. As June begins, the summer madness sets into full swing ahead of the World Cup and transfer window.

The club has moved incredibly fast to identify and now appoint the new man to take the club into the future.

Let's catch you up on some of the biggest news at the club heading into the weekend.

Iraola Arrives

19:30, Thursday night was the time and day Liverpool announced their new Head Coach ahead of the 2026-27 season. Andoni Iraola becomes only the second Spaniard to take charge at Anfield and will look to replicate and then exceed the legacy of his compatriot, Rafa Benitez and bring success to the club.

Iraola was the man for LFC from the get-go, as soon as Slot’s departure was announced, journalists from all over Europe stated that Iraola was the main target and will be the coach they will pursue.

Having not managed a club of this stature, the 43-year-old, steps into the unknown and will hope his, as Mo Salah put it, more “heavy metal attacking” mentality, will win over the fans, players and board alike.

A style more similar to what we saw from Klopp’s team is what is expected from Iraola, who learned a lot of his style from mad Argentinian coach, Marcelo Bielsa.

The Basque native will have a small rebuild to handle alongside his own arrival as, wingers, a right back and experienced centre-back have been mentioned to be on the shopping list.

Reds Step Up Diomande Interest

It turned out to be a terrific Thursday as David Ornstein dropped a mini bombshell reporting that LFC have stepped up their pursuit of Leipzig winger Yan Diomande. The Reds have made initial contact with the Bundesliga side, even though as Ornstein states, Leipzig determined not to sell.

Liverpool have already have an edge in this race as they look to be in a stronger position on the personal side with the Ivorian, who himself has been quoted talking about his dream to play for Liverpool due to his Father’s connection with the Reds.

PSG have interest in the winger but seem to be at a less advanced stage at the moment giving Liverpool that needed head start over the back-to-back European champions.

It looks as if this will be the marquee signing of the summer for Liverpool and potentially for the Premier League. Once again showing FSG and this club's ambition for the future.

Liverpool secure long-term future of Wonderkid

A name that has been lighting up the academy is Joshua Abe. The 15-year-old starlet has signed a scholarship at Anfield, with the Reds fending off interest from rivals across England.

Writing the exclusive story for The Athletic, James Pearce announced that sources told him that Abe was offered pro level terms from rivals, in excess of £50,000 per week.

It was FSG Technical Director Julian Ward that led the discussions between the club and Abe, showing the level of potential this club and others see him getting to.

This is a huge relief for the academy and the club as a whole, Abe is a massively regarded talent who is expected to be in and around the first team before long. Abe is a left-footed winger, who has a keen eye for goal. The youngster has been regularly playing with the U18’s and bagged eight goals in the 10 games he played.

This is a huge outcome for Liverpool and shows the project and plan they have in place for Joshua as he enters his first years in the professional game next year and onwards.
