As we inch closer to confirming Florian Wirtz as a Liverpool player, the club and fans are buzzing. He will join Jeremie Frimpong who arrived weeks ago and the expected signing of Milos Kerkez.
Arne Slot is shaping the next era at the club and with that comes some hard decisions. Not every player can stay and grow, as this summer has already shown. Liverpool will be looking to offload a few members of the squad.
Chief among those expected departures appears to be Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan has shown flashes of his immense gifts, but he has far too often been left wanting in front of goal.
Saudi interest is real
There are several clubs in the Saudi Pro League that hold authentic interest in Nunez as a summer addition this window, with Al Hilal recently moving into the frontrunner seat for his signature.
The Reds are looking to recoup a lot of what they spent to bring him from Benfica, so their asking price of around €70 million or more makes sense.

Al Hilal is more than capable of matching these financial asks and the player, for his worth, has recently shown a willingness to make such a move at this point in his career. It would be the freshest of fresh starts for a player that has been in the crosshairs for three years now.
He would join a growing list of former Liverpool players to make the trek to Saudi Arabia in recent years joining names like Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson.
Unlike those players, he is still considered to be in the "prime" of his career so it will be interesting to see how he would fit into the Al Hilal dynamic, as they are the reigning champions.
The Italian Champions join the race
While it's not overly shocking to hear of reported interest from the Saudi Pro League in a signature name like Nunez, it might come as more of a surprise to hear interest is growing in our No. 9 from Naples.
Napoli, fresh off winning their second Scudetto in three seasons, reportedly considers Darwin to be a viable target in their summer window to refresh the attack.

This comes courtesy of "Corriere dello Sport" that confirms the Italian champions are weighing up a possible €60 million offer for the enigmatic striker.
This move would allow Nunez to keep competing at the highest levels of the sport with a well ran club that is clearly on an upward trajectory. His physical style could also play well in the Italian game that does not see his kind of pace and power very often.
Romelu Lukaku and Scott McTominay led the way with 14 and 13 goals respectively across all competitions this season for Napoli.
It's clear the gap left by Victor Osimhen is still there asking to be filled and the club apparently sees Nunez as a strong candidate for this spot.
