Everyone knows that December is a notoriously hectic month in English football. While the Bundesliga takes an elongated winterpause, and other European leagues have a week or two off, festive football is a tradition that British fans will never let die.

For managers though, it is a very challenging period. On Monday afternoon, the Premier League confirmed the latest round of December TV picks, crystallising the Reds' fixture list.

First up, Liverpool will welcome Sunderland to Anfield on Wednesday 2 December. This match will kick off at 7:30pm (GMT) and be broadcast by Sky Sports in the UK. This is part of a full mid-week round of fixtures, with eight of the ten matches being played on a bumper Wednesday.

Three days later, Iraola's team will be in the capital to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. This is the 12:30 kick off (GMT) on Saturday 5 December, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max.

The following weekend, Leeds United will be the visitors to Merseyside. This clash on Saturday 12 December has remained a 3pm kick off, so will not be broadcast live on TV in the UK.

Lastly, on Saturday 19 December, currently bottom of the table Tottenham Hotspur will visit Anfield. This is now a 5:30pm (GMT) kick off, live on Sky Sports. Liverpool have already beaten Spurs at home this season, prevailing 3-1 in the EFL Cup, with Dominik Szoboszlai securing the victory courtesy of this rocket.

The Premier League fixtures after this, around Christmas and New Year, had already been confirmed a few weeks ago, so this is the full set of Liverpool's festive matches:

Liverpool's fixture: 29 November - 5 January

  • Sunday 29 November: Everton (A) - Premier League. Kick off Midday.
  • Wednesday 2 December: Sunderland (H) - Premier League. Kick off 7:30pm.
  • Saturday 5 December: Chelsea (A) - Premier League. Kick off 12:30pm.
  • Wednesday 9 December: Porto (H) - Champions League. Kick off 8pm.
  • Saturday 12 December: Leeds United (H) - Premier League. Kick off 3pm.
  • 15 or 16 December: Potential EFL Cup quarter-final - Kick off TBC.
  • Saturday 19 December: Tottenham Hotspur (H) - Premier League. Kick off 5:30pm.
  • Saturday 26 December: Hull City (A) - Premier League. Kick off 5:30pm.
  • Wednesday 30 December: Aston Villa (A) - Premier League. Kick off 8:15pm.
  • Saturday 2 January: Coventry City (H) - Premier League. Kick off 3pm.
  • Tuesday 5 January: Sunderland (A) - Premier League. Kick off 8:15pm.

In the space of 38 days, if Liverpool overcome Chelsea in the EFL Cup, Iraola's team will play 11 matches, with very little rest time in-between. This period commences with the small matter of a Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium, and features a Champions League date with Porto, as well as trips to Stamford Bridge, Villa Park and the Stadium of Light that leap off the page.

There is plenty for Kopites to look forward to this Christmas but, already dealing with a few injury concerns, Iraola's squad could be stretched to the limit.
