Liverpool player ratings for the 2-0 Champions League win over Real Madrid
By Jack Davies
Liverpool beat Real Madrid for the first time in 9 attempts in a dominant performance in front of an electric Anfield atmosphere.
Arne Slot's rampant Reds made it a perfect five for five in the revamped Champions League as his impervious start continues.
Let's see how the Liverpool players rated in victory.
Caoimhin Kelleher - 9/10
Caoimhin Kelleher may not only be the best backup keeper in the world, he may be the best backup keeper of all time. The Irishman has rendered Alisson Becker's latest injury almost moot with a string of solid performaces and he digs his way deeper into Anfield hearts.
Whilst having fairly little to do, Kelleher made it three penalty saves from three as he denied Kylian Mbappe from the spot and preserved yet another clean sheet.
Conor Bradley - 9.5/10 (MOTM)
Full Champions League debuts do not come much better than this! Conor Bradley has continued to impress both off the bench and in Trent Alexander-Arnold's absence this season.
Bradley set the tempo with a crunching tackle on Mbappe, to raise the already raucous atmosphere into fever pitch.
Already having a superb game, Bradley then made up for missing his own big chance by playing a neat one-two with Alexis Mac Allister before the Argentinian drove home the opener. Bradley was a constant thorn in Mbappe's side and he will be hoping the injury that forced his early exit isn't as bad as first feared.
Ibrahima Konate - 8/10
Another fine game from the fearless Frenchman, as Konate mopped up everything in his vicinity as his fine season continued. The big defender has only missed one game this season but is another who limped off the field after the whistle and will be hoping it's nothing serious.
Virgil Van Dijk - 9/10
Another imperious performance in a big game for Virgil van Dijk. The skipper led by example once more with a calm and calculated display both on and off the ball. The Dutchman has now been at the heart of four clean sheets in five games.
Rumours of his contract situation will no doubt run wild as January approaches and Liverpool fans across the globe will be hoping to see his signature on the dotted line for an extension.
Andy Robertson - 7/10
One of the Scotsman's better games of a difficult season, Robertson rose to the occasion. The left-back did give a rather soft looking penalty away but once Kelleher had bailed him out, he redeemed himself by supplying a perfect cross for Cody Gakpo to head home the second.
Ryan Gravenberch - 7.5/10
Perhaps a touch low due to the standards he's set this season, Ryan Gravenberch stood tall with another controlled midfield performance. In there with talents such as Luka Modric and Jude Bellingham, the Dutchman shone both defensively and in transition.
Alexis Mac Allister - 9/10
Mac Allister continues to defy his relatively small price tag with another superb performance in a big game. Not content with admiring his superb ball to Conor Bradley, he got himself involved in the recycled phase of play before sliding home the opener to send the Kop end wild.
Curtis Jones - 8.5/10
Many had written Jones off last season but he has silenced those doubters and then some. The Scouse maestro had already set a great standard before he drove through the entire Madrid midfield, even causing Real Madrid's Eduardo Camavinga to go off with a hamstring injury as he chased back.
Luis Diaz - 6/10
The Colombian certainly put in a shift in as he always does but failed to make much of an impact on the game.
Diaz did improve once moved into the centre forward role, a position where he scored a hattrick last time in this competition against Bayer Leverkusen.
Darwin Nunez - 6.5/10
Darwin Nunez is another who always gives 100% and his work ethic will never be questioned. The Uruguayan was the catalyst for the Liverpool press and did create a couple of big chances for himself. He forced a good save from Thibaut Courtois before dropping a header narrowly wide.
Mohamed Salah - 6.5/10
In case of what could have been for Mo Salah as he had a mixed night under the Anfield lights. The Egyptian had a fairly quiet first hour before his driving run caused Ferland Mendy to lose all bearings and foul him inside the area.
Despite showing incredible poise in a big winning penalty on Sunday, Salah sliced his penalty off the post and wide.
Cody Gakpo - 7/10
Gakpo continues to impress this season and he notched another goal in the Champions League. The Dutchman brought great energy once he was introduced before rising highest to head home the goal that finally saw off Los Blancos.
