Liverpool made it seven wins from seven in their 2024/25 Champions League campaign on Tuesday with a 2-1 victory over visitors Lille.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Harvey Elliott were enough to get the Reds over the finish line, even if it wasn't the prettiest of matches from start to finish.
It now means Liverpool are strong favorites to secure the spot in the Champions League table when they play PSV on the final UCL League phase matchday. For now, let's see how the Liverpool players rated in the win over Lille.
Alisson Becker - 6.5/10 - There was not a lot of work for Alisson on this rainy night, and the only Lille goal was through no fault of his own. Solid otherwise when called upon in the flow of things.
Conor Bradley - 6.5/10 - A solid, but not electrifying performance from Bradley. Struggled a bit defensively but is still never afraid to bite into a tackle and eventually got forward as the match wore on.
Jarell Quansah - 7.5/10 - A much needed strong outing for the young defender who has not been his best self for a long time. Was calm and composed throughout and showed his underrated ball skills once again.
Virgil van Dijk - 7/10 - The big Dutchman didn't have a heavy workload ton this night, but as usual, he was steady and led the line with aplomb. Lille wanted nothing to do with him.
Kostas Tsimikas - 7/10 - One of his more balanced performances of late as he chipped in defensively well-enough before bombing forward to great results more than once.
Ryan Gravenberch - 6.5/10 - Was only called upon for a half of football and it was largely silent from his end in terms of huge impacts. Off at the break to keep him fresh going forward.
Curtis Jones - 7.5/10 - Could have had a higher rating if he was able to stay on the pitch, but a knock forced him off. He thrived in a deep playmaking role for Arne Slot
Mohamed Salah - 8/10 - Finished the break so well and with such confidence there was never a doubt it was going in the net. He linked up well with several attackers and was a menace as usual for the opposition.
Dominik Szoboszlai - 6.5/10 - Needs to begin consistently adding more goals and assists to his game. However, this night was about effort and pressing which he did with aplomb as he typically does.
Luis Diaz - 6/10 - Reverted back to the no end-product Lucho we don't like to see. Couldn't really get a firm footing in the match, but did force the second yellow on Mandi.
Darwin Nunez - 7/10 - Yet another hardworking shift for Darwin who did put the all in the net but was ruled out for offside. Pressed and harried Lille all night long and it was a proper shift on his end.
SUBS:
Alexis Mac Allister - 7.5/10 - A confident display after coming on at halftime as he did a little bit of everything per his usual. Always put himself in the right spot to keep things humming along in the midfield and attack.
Harvey Elliott - 8/10 - Was an electric outing off the bench and he looks to be back to his spark-plug self. Playing with confidence once again.
Wataru Endo - 6.5/10 - A nice half-hour of work for the Japan captain as he helped shut things down late on and maintain stability for Liverpool.
Federico Chiesa - 7.5/10 - This might seem like a high rating for not scoring or assisting, but Fede created multiple chances for himself and got shots on target. Showed flashes of the player he used to be and perhaps still could be.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - N/A
