Well, there will be no perfect Champions League record for Liverpool this season. A massively changed Starting XI from Arne Slot saw to that.
The much-changed Reds fell 3-2 to PSV Eindhoven in a match that saw Liverpool lead two separate occasions only to concede soon thereafter. However, despite the defeat, top of the Champions League table was still secured so all is not doom and gloom.
Let's see how the youthful Liverpool side rated in the defeat.
Caoimhin Kelleher - 5.5/10 - Not his best day of work. The first goal was elite, but being beaten at his near post two different times in two different ways is not ideal.
Conor Bradley - 6/10 - It was a struggle for Bradley early on as he looked off the pace. Was susceptible for at least one of the goals but he grew into the match and as more dangerous later on.
Jarell Quanah - 6/10 - A mixed bag for the now 22-year old defender. His sloppy work in the defensive half saw goals scored as a result. But looked like vintage Joel Matip when he carried the ball forward with confidence.
Andy Robertson - 6/10 - Robbo is just not a central defender. He looked restricted in his movement and could not impact things going forward like he normally would have.
Kostas Tsimikas - 6.5/10 - Showed some positive glimpses throughout the match, but never could get his final delivery on point. One of the more steady performers on the night.
James McConnell - 7.5/10 - A pleasant surprise on a night of frustration as the young midfielder broke up play with confidence and moved the ball along well. His effort and belief were clear to see.
Wataru Endo - 5.5/10 - A very middling outing from Endo as he looked rusty and not his normal tenacious self. Even shifting to central defense did not do much to elevate him. Disappointing as he should have been one of the leaders on the night.
Harvey Elliott - 6.5/10 - Tried to create attacking moves whenever he could but usually saw them sputter out. However, his positioning allowed him to slot home the second. Worked hard all night.
Federico Chiesa - 7/10 - The Italian continues to round himself into dangerous form as he was threatening throughout the night. Won the penalty for our first, his driven shot led to the second and he was moving forward at every chance.
Jayden Danns - 5/10 - A rough spot for the youngster as he did not have a lot of service and when he was on the all, could not get much done. Had one nice turn midfield but otherwise largely invisible.
Cody Gakpo - 6.5/10 - A solid but unspectacular evening on his return to PSV Stadium. Calmly took the penalty but was not able to impact much after that before coming off after 50 minutes.
SUBS:
Tyler Morton - 6/10 - Tried his best to influence the game positively from midfield but could not muster more than a long range effort.
Trey Nyoni - 5/10 - Largely invisible for his 25+ minutes on the pitch.
Amara Nallo - N/A - Came on, shaky few minutes. Lack of awareness got him caught and gets a red. Brutal debut for the lad.
