Liverpool predicted Starting XI for Premier League meeting with Arsenal
We are on the cusp of another marquee matchup in the Premier League as Liverpool make the trip to the Emirates Stadium to do battle with Arsenal in a near top-of-the-table clash.
Arne Slot will not have a full strength squad for the match as several players are out battling various injuries, so it will be interesting to see what he lines up with on Sunday against the Gunners who are battling injuries of their own.
Liverpool have not had as much success in the last few years in their league meetings with Arsenal as we had become accustomed to as Mikel Arteta has elevated their standing in the game.
Let's take a look at how the Reds could lineup for this huge match on Sunday.
Goalkeeper: Caoimhin Kelleher
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson
Midfielders: Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones
Forwards: Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz
Probable Subs: Joe Gomez, Dominik Szoboszlai, Cody Gakpo, Wataru Endo
Kelleher is a lock in net of course and van Dijk is a stalwart. Robertson gets restored to the XI after sitting out the Champions League win in Germany during the week. Trent was taken off early so he should be well rested as well.
Mac Allister and Gravenberch are two of the safest options to start each week as they are driving forces in making Slot's system go with their elite versatility in the center of the park.
As for the other midfield spot, it's honestly a toss-up between Dominik Szoboszlai and Jones. The former has played decently well but has not locked down a starring role as of yet whereas the Englishman has taken his chances with both hands thus far.
As we look up top, Salah was also removed early in the win against RB Leipzig after providing an assist for Liverpool's only goal. He should be raring to go from kickoff.
An injury to Diogo Jota should mean that Darwin Nunez gets another start in this one. His pace, power and energy should give an injury ravaged Arsenal defense some trouble for sure.
Gakpo started midweek and was incredible once again, but I think that Slot prefers Diaz for League games and Cody in continental competitions.
Despite being down a few key players, Liverpool have more than enough talent on hand to still get the job done in London, especially based on their current form. As long as No. 4 and No. 11 are out there as well, you always have a chance no matter who you are playing.
