The countdown to the 2026/27 domestic campaign officially begins this weekend as Liverpool land in the United States to kick off their 2026/27 pre-season preparations.
In what promises to be an intriguing stateside showcase, the Reds will play against fellow Premier League outfit Sunderland on Saturday, July 25, under the bright lights of Nashville, Tennessee.
The summer tour offers a clean slate to blood fresh talent, evaluate fringe academy graduates, and fine-tune their high-intensity tactical blueprint ahead of a grueling multi-front campaign.
The game will also serve as Andoni Iraola’s first game for the club, after being appointed as head coach in June, but he will be without several key players.
Facing off against a familiar domestic opponent like Sunderland provides the ultimate test for early match fitness. Tickets of course vary depending on the location within the stadium, where a safe standing section for travelling Reds currently priced at $416.50 (£309.82).
Aside from local Liverpool fans in Nashville who will savour a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch their team play live, it certainly feels like pre-season has never felt more expensive.
Those who are considering what would be one of the furthest away days in their lives would also have to contend with a pricey flight from the UK to the US.
