Liverpool have always had a string of fantastic wide players, from Egyptian icon Mohamed Salah to Irish megastar Steve Heighway. Here we look at four of the best.
Billy Liddell
Often referred to as Liverpool's first superstar; Billy Liddell lit up the post-war top division, spending his entire career at the Reds and scoring over 200 times.
Born in 1922 in Fife, Liddell joined Liverpool from the age of 16 but injuries and World War Two denied him a full senior debut until 1940, where he scored after just two minutes.

The Scottish playmaker was Liverpool's top scorer for eight of his nine seasons in the 1950s and won a league title at Anfield in 1947.
The Scot placed 6th on a poll of all time Liverpool players and is still the fourth highest scorer in the club's history. He is known for his immense conduct on and off the pitch, with notable charity work and commitment to the war effort.
Steve Heighway
A man who still has his name sang loud and proud around Anfield; Steve Heighway is one of the all time Liverpool greats.
Born in Dublin just after World War II, Heighway made his debut for Bill Shankly in 1970 and never looked back. The Irishman scored his first goal in one of his first league games and would go on to score 75 more.

One of the most decorated wingers in the clubs history, Heighway won five top division titles, an FA Cup, two UEFA cups and two European Championships.
Heighway was as tenacious as they come and was one of the first British players to extend his career in America, before retiring in 1982.
John Barnes
A trailblazer and an exceptional footballer, John Barnes lit up Anfield for a decade across the 1980s and 90s.
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Barnes joined Liverpool after an extremely successful spell with Watford. The winger scored 15 in his first season at Anfield, lifting the league title at his first time of asking.

Another league title would follow, alongside two FA Cups and a League Cup. He would also play over 80 times for England.
Personal accolades included PFA Player of the Year, Football Writers Player of the Year and he was voted the best left-footed English player of all time.
Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah has truly broken the mould at Anfield, with a string of records a mile long and a glut of goals and trophies.
Born in Egypt in 1992, Salah had to rebuild a career following a disappointing spell at Chelsea but there is no doubt of his credentials from his time an Anfield.

He is a two time Premier League winner with 184 Premier League goals, making him the current fifth all time leading scorer in the competition. He is just one away from fourth on that list and is tenth for all time league assists.
Personal records include being the first player to outscore three Premier League teams in a season, being the most prolific opening day scorer of all time with nine and being the player to hit 10 goals 10 assists the most times, with an astonishing six and counting.
