It has already been a pretty miserable international break for Andoni Iraola and Liverpool. Over the weekend, both Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak returned to Merseyside after picking up injuries away with their national teeams. Thus, fans are on edge every time a player is in action.
Six Liverpool players were in action around the world on Monday, so we round up how they performed.
Ronald Araújo
Ronald Araújo is certainly racking up the most air miles of any Liverpool player during this international break. His country Uruguay were winless in eight internationals, disastrously crashing out in the World Cup group stages, before being beaten 3-1 by Japan on Thursday.
The Barcelona loanee started that game in Rifu, as well as completing 90 minutes in Seoul on Monday, but surely enjoyed that rather more. That's because, Diego Forlán's team demolished Korea Republic 4-1 at Sangam Stadium, with former Liverpool fans' favourite Darwin Núñez scoring twice. Araújo was booked during the first half, but racked up 11 defensive contributions, continuing his excellent club form.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez
Hungary were expected to top their UEFA Nations League B group, having been relegated last time round, but are yet to win or even score a goal after two games. On Monday night, the Magyars battled to a goalless draw with Northern Ireland in Belfast, a match that produced twice as many yellow cards as shots on target.
Despite this, Dominik Szoboszlai and Miloš Kerkez departed Windsor Park unscathed, after both completed 90 minutes. Having lost at home to Ukraine, Hungary are under pressure to win when Georgia visit the Puskás Aréna on Friday.
Bradley Barcola and Jérémy Jacquet
It was a momentous night for Jérémy Jacquet, who earned his first-ever senior international cap, starting alongside Chelsea's Maxence Lacroix at centre-back as Zinédine Zidane shuffled his pack. The 21 year old helped les Bleus keep a clean sheet as they made it two wins out of two in the UEFA Nations League, this time beating neighbours Belgium 1-0 in Brussels.
The only goal of the night at Stade Roi Baudouin came just two minutes form time, scored by Michael Olise. The Bayern Munich man had only come off the bench ten minutes earlier, replacing Bradley Barcola, the Liverpool star having looked lively off the left. Barcola and Jacquet will be hoping for more minutes when Italy visit the Stade de France on Friday.
Giorgi Mamardashvili
Giorgi Mamardashvili helped Georgia hold Ukraine to a goalless draw at the Boris Paitchadze Dinamo Arena in Tbilisi in an earlier kick off on Monday. In a game of few chances, the 25 year old made only two saves.
Having been beaten 1-0 by Northern Ireland on Friday, the Crusaders are still searching for their first UEFA Nations League win of the year, ahead of trips to Budapest and Belfast. Despite only making one club appearance this season, Mamardashvili remains his country's undisputed number one.
